Shout Out To My Alfa Parts Legend!

Here's an Update! My gear stick has been replaced!! YAY so I'm able to drive my 33 again. The guy sent me the gear stick before I'd paid him. I thought what a trusting guy. Turns out he'd fallen off a billboard and couldn't get to a computer, so got his brother to send it! What a legend! Thanks to you Mr Matt Walker of Wellington. Hope your arm gets better soon!

I still got a few problems. One I fixed yesterday. I got 4 new Tyres from Drury tires and they were never balanced properly. both my back wheels were out. One was out by 100g and the other by 70g. Which while seeming quite small is apparently quite bad! so $24 later my balance is SWEET!

On the burner is my new rear wheel bearings. I picked them up this morning. $92.25 for 2 kits. Not too bad. Now I just need to get some grease and get them installed.

On the back burner is improvements to my suspension and a recon/new gearbox.

I'll keep ya posted.

CHUR!

For Sam.

I cannot believe that anyone in the world would consider this to be uglier than this.

A Fruitful Saturday

Well, of the seven things on the list of work required for the Alfa to get a Warrant of Fitness, I completed two of them.

Repaired the driver's side wing mirror that was damaged here, and I eradicated the play in the right-hand tie rod end.

I also began replacing all the old worn rear suspension bushes with nice shiny new Nolathane bushes. Not having the right tools makes the job a bit slower.
I reached a impasse whilst removing the good front bumper from the donor car - a siezed captive nut in the plastic bumper was simply spinning, pushing out it's plastic enclosure. I didn't have an adjustable spanner wide enough to put around the plastic to hold the nut, so the bumper is stuck until I can get one.

All-in-all I had a productive day, and I look forward to getting back into it soon!

Big ups to all who stopped by for a chat!

A beginning

I'm allocating a significant amount of this Saturday to working on my Alfa.

If anyone is keen to come and help/watch, feel free.

DAMAGE!

Today is a sad day! my newly repaired and roadworthy 33 has been hit with a dose of "my gear stick has broken off" disease!
