Jono's Alfa is still going. I'm kinda half surprised that my gearbox (now in his car) still functions.I must get my gold one on the road. I've pretty much decided that my black 33 (which is now sans-gearbox) won't make it back on the road for a long time, so I'm going to repurpose its exhaust system for the gold 33.

Jono and I fired up the new(er) gold 33 on Saturday!It started surprisingly well, since we bought it not knowing if it even went at all.A rather large hole in the exhaust makes for a most awesome aural assault.We bled the clutch, so now it can go forwards and backwards - although neither directions are particularly useful as the the brakes are not sufficiently sufficient to stop it.

My brother and I - for some time - have had Immobile 33's. So to ease all the pain and unrest this has caused to all the people of Manurewa, we decided to buy a(nother) car for parts. Well, the black 33 has been back on the road now for 23 days, and it's still going just as well (or poorly) as it ever has.Wynn's Spitfire Throttle Body and Carby Cleaner didn't do anywhere near as much for my car as it did for Jono's 33. I was driving along the other night when a dog ran out in front of my Alfa! I skidded to a halt and to my surprise the dog got up and ran away! My car however is a bit of a mess. I'm sure you remember this. Well it seems that a ruptured fuel line is not the only thing that went wrong. My car has been in at my mechanics for 3 weeks tomorrow with power steering issues. After nearly two years, the Alfa is legally back on the road with a fresh WOF and rego.The gearbox is quite noisey, possibly explained by the puddle of fluid on the floor in the garage, but it certain handles well - I can really notice the difference the new rear suspension bushes make.

Today was very fruitful! I managed to fit the rear end of the Alfa with its remaining suspension bushes, reassemble and adjust the brakes, and install a new wheel bearings to both the left and right rear.Left to complete is assembly of the front bumper, grille and headlights, and the fitting of a new windscreen.

Well, of the seven things on the list of work required for the Alfa to get a Warrant of Fitness, I completed two of them.Repaired the driver's side wing mirror that was damaged here, and I eradicated the play in the right-hand tie rod end.I also began replacing all the old worn rear suspension bushes with nice shiny new Nolathane bushes. How sad is this? My recent road trip with the 155 ended in me being towed from near Port Jackson back home. The fuel line was ruptured by a stone on the gravel roads between Fantail Bay and Port Jackson near the northern tip of the Coramandel peninsula. I noticed instantly, as I lost power. I pulled over to check what had happened, and looked under the car to see petrol pouring out of the fuel

I'm becoming increasingly annoyed with the rear speakers. The cones have been torn since before I bought the car. Bass is not warm and filling, but rather an irritated buzzing. Even some cheap replacements would suffice in the interim. I might have to go and see what The Warehouse have that would fit the holes in the parcel shelf. Yesterday (Saturday) I took the Alfa in to Drury Tyres to get the wheels aligned. They sorted out the toe-in problem and as I was driving away, I discovered it was now pulling to the right. Took the Alfa for a decent drive tonight - a bit of town and country - and drove nearly 200kms over a period of four hours. Got some open road country, some motorway, some stop-start Queen St boy-racer-style action, some suburbs - pretty much the whole broad spectrum of NZ road types.
